Hair and play - both colored: Elizabeth Pähtz wins
Pähtz wins with free pawn
Marco Held (K.J.)
Two rounds before the final games nothing about the title is fixed. Natalia Zhukova from Ukraine, European Champion of 2000, got half a point in the fight against Zhaoqin Peng. Besides this Russian Alexandra Kosteniuk, today powerful, could get level with the leading Peng. The 20-year-old FIDE chess star was wearing her orange victory-pullover and matching earrings again, but also convinced on the board against Antoaneta Stefanova. After 78 moves the Bulgarian backed down. Now we have a doble-leadership after Peng was leading alone for a long time. The games before the last (from 1 a.m.) will be exciting when the two most active players are competing.
Three players are part of the chaser-group. Rumenian Cristina Adela Foisor won against Elina Danielian; also Natalia Zhukova and Irina Slavina, who got draw against Polish Monika Socko. Experts are hold true, the top players have a hard time to provide clear conditions. Both final rounds will show up with surprises. May be Elisabeth Pähtz will have a turn into it, too. She had a good game with the black pieces yesterday. The hope from Dresden won against Spain opponent Monica Calzetta-Ruiz. With 6,5 points the 19-year-old can still fight for a rank under the first 12, the World`s Championship qualification.
Happy Birthday: Elena Winkelmann (now 13 but still the youngest!)

Half a point could be won by the Dresdeners in the fight „Dresden against Mamedjarova“. While Tina Mietzner had t back down for older sister Zeinab, the younger Turkan made constant check against Gallina Shmirina who made her stood in mate. Her 14-year-old daughter Evgenija had to take a defeat against the strong Russian Natalija Pogonina although she is still holding the IM standard. Besides that Claudia Meißner said about her game: „She had been better since the beginning, don`t know what went wrong.“ Happy Ulrike Rößler could win the fourth game, while Jessica Nill won against Diana Skibbe in the “German Duell”. Anne Czäczine affirmed her IM standard with a draw against Rusian Evgenija Ovod. It was the 13th birthday for Elena Winkelmann and she played draw against Swede Emilia Horn but was not satisfied: „I want to win at least one more time!“ She has fair chances: there are still two games left.
