Elizabeth Pähtz successfully submitted a sharp speed against Elina Danielian
Pähtz fights for a Top-Ten-Rank
Marco Held (K.J.)
After a fine game and ups and downs through the tournament Elisabeth Pähtz has now a good chance to get a rank among the top ten players. The 19-year-old approached to this goal after her victory against Elina Danielian from Armenia, who is Elisabeth´s secret favourite for the title. Already after 29 moves Pähtz´s opponent backed down. The DSC-player could exploid the condition crisis of Danielian
There was no change at the top of the rankinglist. The leading duo Zhaoqin Peng from the Netherlands and Alexandra Kosteniuk made draw after 79 moves in an balanced game. Unfortunatelly no chaser could use this. Irina Slavina and Cristina Adela Foisor as well as both former winners Natalia Zhukova and Antoaneta Stefanova devided draw. The only victory on the stage could make young Russian Tatiana Kosintseva against Jovanka Houska. So now there is a chaser quartett. Elisabeth Pähtz is now on rank 7, after her success she has only one point less than the leaders. If she made a draw today, she could already get a qualification for the WC with a rank among the 12 best players.
Jessica Nill – today a draw against strong opponents
Czäczine – brilliant in the German Team

Two further Germans players could be very content with their achievement of yetserday. Jessica Nill created with the black stones a draw against Marie Sebag from France. A somewhat strange situation in the final game brought draw with dead knights. „I offered draw twice, than it was her turn. Why she didn´t do it - no clue!“, smiled the national player from Baden-Oos. Finally Anne Czäczine from Chemnitz got her sixth point with a victory against Vera Papadopoulou. This will mean a standard for IM at the end of the tournament.
The only victory for Dresden, besides that of Pähtz, was there for Claudia Meißner. She won against Susan Großmann from Magdeburg and said: „I thought of draw because I didn`t have any ideas. But finally I played for victory. Maybe I get the chance to make 50 % of the points all together.“ There were two draws against strong opponents for Tina Mietzner and Evgenija Shmirina. The 14-year-old was sad about her lost chance. „Actually I could have won, but I didn´t find a way because of too less time.“ But a draw at the end of the tournament should be enough to get the title “International Master“. Not as successful were the games of Galina Shmirina and Ulrike Rößler, who had to back down. Ulrike said: „Two wrong decisions, the first strategical, the second tactical. That made me lose the game“ Also the youngest participant Elena Winkelmann lost her first oportunity to win one point against Pavlina Chilingirova from Bulgaria.
