Partner of Chess
Hans Bodach (K.J.)
EURO SCHACH Dresden likes to support the European Women’s Chess Championship from 20.03. till 03.04.2004 - Dresden’s chess event of the year. This is another milestone on the way to the Chess Olympics 2008 in Dresden and to make Dresden become the capital of chess in Germany.
EURO SCHACH Dresden as mail-order-business is regarded as partner of chess and wants to deal with all aspects arising from it. The colleagues are closely connected with chess and work in an honorary capacity. This is supported by the management according to its potentialities.
Partnerships of various forms do exist since many years. Another connection can be seen between clubs and tournament organizers like ZMD Schachfestival Dresden e.V., Breitenschach für Kinder und Jugend e.V. Freital, Ran ans Brett e.V. Dresden, Grundschulinitiative Schach for the extensive region of Dresden, Deutsche Schachjugend and Deutsche Schulschachstiftung and European Chess Union.

The Trademark GARDE and the SchachTimer „Silver“
Andreas Schneider (K.J.)
As host of European Women’s Chess Championship EURO SCHACH Dresden provides chess pieces and chess boards of the Trademark GARDE as well as electronic chess clocks SchachTimer „Silver”. The wooden chess pieces in the shape “Staunton” are manufactured in the Erzgebirge with tools from the 19th century. The plastic card chess boards (foldable) have the seal of approval of the German Chess Federation and the electronic chess clocks are recommended by the European Chess Union. The whole equipment is peculiarly new produced or reproduced by EURO SCHACH Dresden
The Trademark GARDE has a fine tradition, especially through its mechanical clocks from the city Ruhla in Thuringia. The SchachTimer „Silver“ started its successful business in Europe just in the year 2002 in Dresden.
Why can the European Women’s Chess Championship not be played on the traditional GARDE chess clocks? The FIDE thinking time for the European Championship requires a main thinking time of 90 minutes per player/game and a bonus time of 30 seconds per move. Such a bonus time can only be achieved with modern electronic chess clocks and special software like with the SchachTimer „Silver“.
