| The black pieces represented a bad patch for Natalia Zhukova |
22.03.2004
Beaten European Champion
Natalia Zhukova was visibly in a bad mood after the defeat against a compatriot. With an impressive toughness young Anna Muzychuk won the rook ending. It was only a cold comfort for Zhukova that her neighbours Nana Dsagnidze (Georgia) and Ekaterina Kovalevskaya had to back down, too. There was a live transmission of the game on board 19. There two German players competed - Jessica Nill and Elisabeth Pähtz - Elisabeth`s boyfriend Yannick Pelletier had just arrived in Dresden and kept his fingers crossed for her. She leads with two points and is at the same level with 18 players.
