Sparkasse at Güntzplatz
Stadtsparkasse Dresden is Main Sponsor
Andrea Feuker (Kathleen Jordan)
Chess – the king of games – attracts millions of people in the whole world. Chess players develop and train their patience, tactical and strategic abilities, logical thinking and creative imagination.
These abilities are needed by a financier, too. So we state: Chess and Stadtsparkasse Dresden go well together. We love to support European Women’s Chess Championship 2004 in Dresden. Therefore the Championship will have a great effect on Dresden as a city of sports.
Sparkassen-Cup in Dresden

Dr.Dirk Jordan (K.J.)
The support of chess in Dresden by Stadtsparkasse Dresden is manifold and komplex.
They support the first female team of Dresdner SC 1898 e.V. (DSC), tripple winner of the German Team Competition (1995, 2000, 2001). The Bank is a great supporter in organisation of several big chess events, too. E.g. as host for the amazing „show-fights“ of the Polgar sisters versus Anatoli Karpov in the Sparkassen building at Güntzplatz, due to the 100th anniversary of the DSC.

Or at the qualification to World Championship of middle European countries with the „chess-legends“ Victor Kortschnoi and Wolfgang Uhlmann in Dresden and the organisation of the German Rapid Chess Team Championship in Dresden, where the powerful team of Dresden won the silver medal.
The Sparkassen-Jungsenioren-Cup during the Dresdner Schachfrühling 2004 (“Spring in Chess”), which takes place every year, is organized by Stadtsparkasse Dresden the fifth time. (www.schachfestival.de)

The kids were happy, too: 15 big packages with chess material were given to Elementary Schools by the major of Dresden Ingolf Roßberg (President of Stadtsparkasse foundation) during ZMD-Schachfestivals at Albrechtsberg castle.
The talented seven-year-old Filiz Osmanodja from TU Dresden was given the opportunity to take part in the World Championship 2003 in Greece. Stadtsparkasse Dresden enabled Filiz, as youngest German player, to gain first international experiences.
